Adjusting Return to Land Battery Voltage for Long Range Missions

If you are planning a collection between 0.6 - 1.25 miles [1 -2 km] to away it is safest to adjust how much battery is left to return to land

Detecting Range During Mission Planning:

When Planning On QGroundControl the "Max Telem dist" field  shows you the furthest distance the mission will be from the takeoff point

If you see that the mission exceeds the 1000 meters then refer to the graph below for reference of what voltage value to use in the next sections

Distance to Voltage Graph:

Distance RTL Voltage
0-1000 [m]   21.8  [V]
1000-1200 [m]   21.9  [V]
1200-1400 [m]   22.0 [V]
1400-1600 [m]

22.2  [V]

1600-1800 [m]   22.4  [V]
1800-2000 [m]   22.6  [V]
2000+ [m]    Plan to Move takeoff location closer

Changing the RTL Voltage on Discovery:

Steps:

  1. Power on the drone and connect with the Herelink controller
  2. Select the top left Q and then Vehicle Setup
  3. Scroll to the Safety Tab
  4. For Battery 1 Failsafe Triggers & Battery 2 Failsafe Triggers
    1. Change the Low voltage threshold to the Voltage recommended in the chart above
  5. Select Back and the Values have been Saved

For Better Flight times when you return to more close collections return the Low Voltage Thresholds to 21.8 V
