How to Pack a Drone for Shipping

When Shipping a Discovery Follow these steps to ensure that no damage occurs during shipping and everything is included in the case.

Packing Up

It's important to properly pack the drone and components so you can fully benefit from the custom designed protective foam

Return the Controller to the Case

Ensure the antennas are folded down properly

Put the controller into the case with the screen facing the front of the case and the circle antenna/right side of the controller pointing upward

Fold Props

Align one prop with one leg of the bracket

Fold the other two props in to meet the aligned one in the center

Fold Arms

Compress the levers until you feel/hear the latch release, then swing the arms in until they contact the body of the drone. Remember:

"FRONT FIRST"

Fold the front arm in, then the back arm, on both sides

Re-Install Prop Guards

Wedge the foam pieces between the propellers until the foam is just touching the motor

Install the rubber band over the propellers to hold the propellers and foam together

Remove Legs

Pull the collar on the leg back to release the quick-connection, then pull the leg away from the nub

Place the legs back into the case

NOTE: This step may not be applicable to your drone

Install "Remove Before Flight" tags

Sit the drone on the battery compartment door

Align the pin on the tag with the hole in the Lidar compartment

You can gently press on the black aluminum bracket if needed to better align the hole in the bracket with the hole in the carbon fiber

Push the pins into place until the ring sits against the carbon fiber

Lens Cap

Re-install the lens cap by pressing it straight onto the lens

REMEMBER: do not twist!

Put the Drone in the Case

Angle the drone nose down and lower it into the case

Ensure the drone is level and secure. Grasp the handle and wiggle to see if any adjustments are needed to fully seat the drone into the foam

Close, Latch, Store

Carefully close the lid, ensuring it aligns properly with the GNSS antenna and drone handle

REMEMBER: Store the case in a climate controlled environment

Packing Checklist

Drone has Core Support Pins installed

 
4 Legs are in their leg holes   
A microfiber cloth or lens cloth is on the Herelink controller screen  

The Herelink controller is placed in it's slot with the round antenna folded up

 
The drone is inserted with the round edge matching the round edge of the case  
The SD card is in the SD card slot   
The motors of the drone are touching the rounded edges of the case foam   
 The Case Closes and can latch without applying a lot of force.  

 

When shipping:

If you Still have the Box & Plastic the drone was originally shipped in:

Please pack inside of this and attach the shipping label to the outside of the box.

 

If you do not have the box,

Please coordinate with your packing store to secure the case within cardboard and other packing supplies to fill any void between the cardboard and the case.
