Update your Discovery 2 with SD card

Update your Discovery 2 with the latest operating system and features using the built in MicroSD card slot



  1. Power on your unit and plug in your ethernet cable to the Discovery unit and your computer
    1. Make sure that you have turned off wifi on your computer and connect to the drone by ethernet
  2. Navigate to 20.20.20.1/config and record your current build number

  3. make a folder called “image” on the microSD card

  4. Download the latest firmware from SmartDrone, and name the downloaded binary file “a.1”

  5. Drag and drop the downloaded binary update file into the “image” folder on the microSD card

  6. Eject the microSD card from your computer using the bottom right toolbar section on your computer.

  7. With your Discovery drone powered off, install the microSD card (listen for the audible click)

  8. Power on the drone and start a 10-minute timer - CAUTION - do not power off the drone or reset the drone during the 10 minutes

  9. Power off the drone and remove the SD card

  10. Plug in the ethernet to the right side port

  11. Make sure that you have turned off wifi on your computer

  12. navigate to “20.20.20.1/config” in a Google Chrome window to make sure your build number has updated from the previous build number.

  13. Verify that the “image” folder has been automatically deleted on the microSD card

  14. You are good to fly!
